Rock Around the World 2020 was nothing short of ambitious. A lap of the world raising funds to support 8 local charities was never going to be a walk in the park. In fact, the RATW movement had to step, rock, roll and run in the park to make it happen.
And happen it did. With the other charities, we traversed a lap of the world and raised in excess of $190,000 which will keep society’s most vulnerable supported through this time.
187 registrants came from LSC&PH, which accounted for 44% of total registrants. We have been blown away by the support, which has resulted in a fundraising total continuing to grow past the $61,000 mark. This incredible team effort guarantees those effected by Covid-19 will remain included in our programs, regardless of financial situation. The Spirit of Somers is clearly alive and thriving from a distance, and we never take it for granted.
There was plenty to learn from Rock Around the World.
It turns out we love to be out and about on two wheels, with 18 of the top 20 cyclist’s from LSC&PH. The Olds and Bolds, who have been the gatekeepers of LSC&PH’s mission for many years, demonstrated how much LSC&PH means to them – clocking in as the event’s top fundraising team.
On the big day, we had the chance to chat to many of our finest contributing kilometres or supporting from home on the live stream. This platform would never have been possible without the extensive technical support from Jake and Jono at Moo Motion, as well as our favourite hosts Tom & Olly, who all graciously volunteered their time to help us celebrate this huge accomplishment.
