It is with great excitement that we bring you the good news that Lord Somers Camp and Power House has received confirmation from the Federal Government of a $5 million grant towards our Albert Park facility redevelopment.
We have been working with the offices of Greg Hunt (Federal Minister for Health and Member for Flinders) and Kate Ashmor (Liberal Candidate for Macnamara) for quite some time now and together they visited us on Monday to break the good news of the expected $5m budget commitment.
Thank you to all of our members who have helped in developing these strong relationships with Government. The collective impact of the ground work of many members is at the heart of our tradition and this recent good news. It was that same collaborative hard work and sharing that originally resulted in the building of our facilities at Somers and Albert Park.
Health Minister Greg Hunt said the Power House redevelopment would give quality assistance to people at risk, who should know they were not alone. “Our commitment will support the organisation to promote health and well-being, active participation and social and intergenerational connection,” he said.
We expect to have even more positive news regarding funding for the building redevelopment in the coming month so stay tuned.
